Donations and Support

As a not for profit organisation, PAWS Darwin currently receives no funding. So, how can you help?

Donations of cat food, cat litter, cat litter trays, dry dog and puppy food, toys, collars, leads, beds and bedding plus everything to do with pets is always welcome and much needed. You can give us a call to ask if there is anything specific that we may need. Larger donations such as equipment and (for example) fencing are also readily accepted.

Monetary donations enable us to keep upgrading living spaces for our homeless pets whilst they wait for their new homes. They also assist us in paying for veterinary treatments that the animals may need, from basic health care such as worming to life saving treatments or operations. Monetary donations can be the best gift to an animal shelter, and remember donations over $2 are tax deductable, so please ask us for a receipt!

Donations are accepted at the Humpty Doo Veterinary Clinic, PAWS Darwin as well as the DCC pound in Berrimah (next to the RSPCA).

Don’t forget to come down to say hi to Mousey and the PAWS crew at the Mindil Beach markets on Thursdays and the Palmerston Markets on Fridays!

Want to assist in other ways but cannot think of how?

There are countless areas that all contribute to running an animal shelter, and most shelters rely heavily on the community's contributions. This doesn't have to be monetary or spending time with us as a volunteer but using your own skills to help in other ways can be a huge help. For example, PAWS Darwin uses the internet heavily for profiling pets who are searching for a new home. You can assist by passing on details of homeless pets to your work colleagues or email contacts. The idea behind this is to create a snowball effect in where they can then send it onto people they may know who are looking for their new best mate. Even printing pet profiles out and sticking them up in the lunch room can help find a perfect home for a cat or dog who may otherwise not find one. Help out by spreading the word around when we hold a fundraiser BBQ or similar event. Print posters, email them out and let everybody know about it!
