Meet Our Pets!

Meet the pets who have stolen our hearts and made themselves at home in our homes!

Byron

Byron came to PAWS as a scrawny, stray 4-5 week old kitten who we didn't think would make it. After a loving foster carer gave him a couple of weeks of TLC he came back to PAWS as a bouncy, crazy, attention seeking blue kitten. Not actually even looking at getting a cat, I was amazed when Byron wouldn't leave me alone every time I entered the cat room and so he chose me and demanded I adopt him or else. Now he rules the roost at my house and has made bestest best friends with my staffies who adore him.

Kobi

Kobi was admitted into PAWS in 2009 after been unclaimed from the DCC pound. He came in a little underweight, had mild case of kennel cough but had a lot of love to give! A massive goofball at heart, Kobi is an irreplaceable member in the family! He has been through the PAWS obedience classes and comes to work to socialize and play with the other staff members dogs regularly. He especially enjoys going down to the dog park or beach after work to cool off, fetch a ball or two and most of all run amok with all the other dogs.

Maizie

Maizie came through the shelter in 2010 and weighed in at a miserable 19 kilos and was sick with a pyometra. She had no previous obedience skills and even worse - minimal skills with other dogs! With lots of training sessions and socialisation, Maizie is now a happy and content member of the family and loves her brothers and cat-cousins.

Mo

Mo was left unclaimed at the pound. He was given his name because he grows a seasonal mo-hawk hairstyle. Hannah started working with him with the view to be an assistance dog but he wasn't quite going to cut the mustard as he has a few quirks, one being obsessive with small animals. His primary motivator is food. He's a very outgoing character and loves exploring with his nose to the ground.

Rubie

Rubie came to PAWS as an unclaimed stray. Initially she was going to used as a training/PR dog, but instead I adopted her into my life and used her as my own training dog. She loves to perform tricks via clicker training, and show off her obedience and agility skills on Monday night classes. Rubie is a social butterfly who loves nothing more than playing all day with anyone and everyone, she enjoys the company of dogs and also cats! At times her kelpie traits show and she can be a little naughty at times but I still wouldn't trade her for the world!

Dusty

Dusty is a miniature poodle x maltese and found himself surrendered to Paws along with his pal. His favourite trick is dancing. He's a real sook & craves attention.
